Washington Tech Secondary Magnet recently issued the following announcement.
Inspired by a current senior at Washington Technology Magnet and supported by a large community of peers, teachers, and coaches, The Scott W. Hamilton Legacy Track & Field Festival's intent is to:
1. Build a community event that showcases the Washington Tech Track and Field team, the Scott W Hamilton Foundation, CLIMB Theatre, and gives student athletes the opportunity to teach, lead and be ambassadors for their sport and their school.
2. Announce the winner of the Scott W. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship for 2022.
3. Raise funds for the Scott W. Hamilton Memorial Scholarship fund, the Washington Tech Track & Field program, and social emotional capacity building and mentorship opportunities for students at Washington Tech Magnet.
Time and Scheduling:
10:45 AM: Track opens
10:45 to 11:30 AM: Athletes and Volunteers Setup
11:30 AM: Registration and socializing
12:00 PM: Introductions and opening remarks
12:20 PM: Skill rotations — 3 Rotations of 20 minutes with 5 minute breaks
1:30 PM: Community photo and 4x100 Relays (no WTM T&F athletes may participate due to MSHSL)
1:45 PM 4x400 Relays (no WTM T&F athletes may participate due to MSHSL)
2:00 PM: Announce the scholarship winner.
2:30 PM: Closing remarks and socialization food
