More than 90% of adults in Minnesota are eligible to receive at least $1,200 from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, The Center Square reported.
The news agency reported that 90.8%—2,837,704 residents— qualify for the $1,200 economic stimulus checks that the federal government began sending out on April 10, according to the news agency. Those eligible are single residents that make less than $75,000 or married couples who make less than $150,000.
The news agency reported that Minnesota's average per-capita income is $37,194. The state's poverty rate is 9.6% and the state's projected unemployment rate by July is 15%.
Those who made below the $75,000 and $150,000 thresholds received $1,200 and $2,400, respectively, plus $500 for each child, the news agency reported. Those who made over the threshold could still receive money but at a lesser rate.
