U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, who serves Minnesota’s 4th district in Congress, addressed a range of issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account this week.

On September 9, McCollum issued a statement condemning recent military actions in the Middle East. She wrote, "I unequivocally condemn Israel’s attack on Qatar, a neutral nation that has mediated peace talks for nearly two years between Israel and Hamas. This unprovoked attack on the nation of Qatar is a flagrant violation of international law that harms prospects for peace between" (September 9, 2025).

Later the same day, McCollum highlighted legislative efforts to address catalytic converter theft. She posted, "Replacing a stolen catalytic converter can cost thousands. Sometimes, your car is totaled. It's time for this to end. Today, @RepJimBaird and I introduced the PART act to crack down on catalytic converter theft and provide police with the tools they need to get justice." (September 9, 2025).

On September 10, McCollum recognized World Suicide Prevention Day and promoted access to mental health resources: "Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. You can call or text 988 in a mental health emergency—your life is important. Access to high quality mental health care is vital. I will continue to work to make this a reality for all Americans." (September 10, 2025).

McCollum has represented Minnesota's 4th District in Congress since replacing Bruce Vento in 2001 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 until her election to Congress. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul at age 68, she graduated from St. Catherine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
