Representative Ben Davis of Mission Township released a statement following a violent incident involving Speaker Hortman. Davis expressed concern over the act, emphasizing that violence should not be directed at anyone for their political beliefs.

“No one, regardless of political beliefs, should ever be the target of violence. This evil act is not just a tragedy for the individuals and families affected, but a direct assault on the principles of public service and civil discourse.

Speaker Hortman was always a strong advocate for her beliefs and a dedicated public servant. She was always very kind to me. I will never forget her commitment to Minnesota and the folks she served."
