Minnesota State Representative Max Rymer provided an update to constituents about his activities during the legislative interim and highlighted ongoing issues in the state.

Rymer shared that he attended the State Legislative Leaders Foundation’s Emerging Leaders program in July. He was nominated by the Speaker of the House and was the only Minnesota House member at the event, which brings together early-term legislators from across the country.

Rymer also recently emceed a local education forum with area superintendents Sara Paul (North Branch), Brian Dietz (Chisago Lakes), and Steve Massey (Forest Lake). The event drew about 50 participants and covered topics such as mandates, funding challenges, parent transparency, and student outcomes. "I love engaging our community in these types of events and appreciate the work our Superintendents do. It’s not an easy job!" Rymer said.

He continues to hold constituent meetings to gather feedback for future legislation. Rymer encouraged residents to contact him or attend upcoming town halls for further discussion.

Looking ahead, Rymer noted that he will be touring bonding projects around Minnesota as part of his role on the Capital Investment committee. These tours will provide insight into infrastructure needs in smaller communities throughout his district and beyond.

Rymer also informed constituents about upcoming special elections to fill vacancies in the Minnesota Legislature: "Several special elections are scheduled in the coming weeks to fill vacancies in the Minnesota Legislature. These elections matter. They determine who will represent your community’s voice on the issues that impact our daily lives. I’ll be heavily involved in each one of them." Detailed information is available on the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website.

Addressing state concerns, Rymer raised alarms over persistent government fraud problems. He cited Acting US Attorney for Minnesota Joe Thompson's recent statement estimating over $1 billion lost to government fraud in recent years. Last session, a proposal for an Inspector General office failed by a single vote from House DFL members. "We had a chance last session to implement an office of Inspector General to proactively address some of this fraud. We just needed one House DFLer to vote for it, which didn’t happen," Rymer said. He expressed hope that new measures would be adopted next session but noted a positive development: "That said, on a positive note, there was a sentence handed down to the Feeding our Future ‘ringleader’ 28 years."

Rymer represents House District 28B, which includes Center City, Chisago City, Chisago Lake, Fraconia Township, Lent Township, Lindstrom, North Branch, Schafer, Stacy, Sunrise Township, Taylors Falls and Wyoming.

Constituents are encouraged to reach out with questions or concerns via phone or email.
