Betty McCollum marks new fire station and environmental initiative amid town hall engagement

Betty McCollum, the U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 4th district, shared several updates on social media over the last two days, highlighting her active engagement in community and environmental issues.

On April 22, McCollum marked the opening of the new Fire Station 7 in Saint Paul. She emphasized the "years of hard work and collaboration with @SenAmyKlobuchar, @MayorCarter, and Fire Chief Butch Inks" that led to this achievement. McCollum paid tribute to the old station, noting its century-long contribution to the city's safety and expressed hope for the new facility's continued service for another hundred years. "Saint Paul opened the new Fire Station 7 today — the result of years of hard work and collaboration with @SenAmyKlobuchar, @MayorCarter, and Fire Chief Butch Inks. Old Station 7 kept the East Side safe for 100 years. Here's to the next 100!"

On the following day, April 23, she focused on environmental concerns, revealing that the Mississippi River is "the most endangered river in America according to @AmericanRivers." In response, McCollum took action to protect the river by reintroducing the Mississippi River Restoration & Resilience Initiative Act, pledging to safeguard drinking water, ecosystems, and wildlife for future generations. "The Mississippi is the most endangered river in America according to @AmericanRivers. On Earth Day, I'm taking action by reintroducing the Mississippi River Restoration & Resilience Initiative Act to protect our drinking water, ecosystems, and wildlife for generations to come."

Later the same day, McCollum expressed her gratitude for the engagement of the Stillwater community during a town hall event. She thanked the attendees, along with notable figures like Speaker Emerita @melissahortman and several state representatives and senators, affirming their voices are heard and valued. "Democracy in action. Thanks to the people of Stillwater for joining me, Speaker Emerita @melissahortman, Representatives @JosiahHill, @PeterFischerMN, @KaohlyVangHer, and David Gottfried and Senator @LizBoldonMN for our town hall tonight. Your voices matter, and we're listening."
