Rep. Betty McCollum, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district, recently shared her views on various political matters through a series of tweets. McCollum, who has been in office since 2001 after succeeding Bruce Vento, addressed topics ranging from billionaire attendance at inauguration events to international relations and environmental protection.

On January 21, 2025, Rep. McCollum highlighted the presence of several billionaires at recent inauguration events. She mentioned Elon Musk with a net worth of $433.9 billion, Jeff Bezos at $239.4 billion, Mark Zuckerberg at $211.8 billion, Bernard Arnault at $180 billion, and Rupert Murdoch at $22.2 billion among others as reported by Forbes. In her tweet, she posed the question: "Who do you think President Trump is fighting for?"

Later that day, Rep. McCollum addressed a geographical error regarding international alliances made by former President Donald Trump. On January 21, 2025, she tweeted: "Trump is confused. Spain is a NATO ally, not a member of BRICS." This comment was made in response to Trump's apparent misunderstanding about Spain's international affiliations.

In another tweet posted on January 21, 2025, Rep. McCollum announced her legislative efforts concerning environmental conservation. She stated: "Today, I’m re-introducing the Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act." The act aims to protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), which she described as "a national treasure," from threats posed by proposed copper-sulfide mining projects supported by Donald Trump and Republican allies.
