Rep. Betty McCollum, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district, recently shared her views on significant national issues through a series of tweets. Her statements addressed topics ranging from criminal justice reform to reproductive rights and travel advisories.

On January 20, 2025, Rep. McCollum expressed her support for President Biden's decision to commute Leonard Peltier's sentence. She stated, "After decades of advocacy from Tribal leaders, I commend President Biden for acting with compassion to commute the sentence of Leonard Peltier. We must acknowledge the injustice that he and many other Native Americans have experienced in our legal system."

Later that day, she paid tribute to Cecile Richards, a prominent advocate for reproductive freedom who had recently passed away. In her tweet posted at 20:51 UTC, McCollum wrote, "Cecile Richards was one of America's fiercest advocates for reproductive freedom. Her leadership empowered millions of women to advocate for justice and equity. As I mourn her loss, I'll honor her legacy by continuing our fight for equal rights and reproductive health autonomy."

In another post made at 21:00 UTC on the same day, Rep. McCollum reminded constituents about international travel preparations by stating: "Remember to check your passport expiration date if you plan to travel internationally. Learn how to apply or renew on the @StateDept website."
