Saint Paul Public Schools issued the following announcement on May 13.
With the Governor’s executive order to close all school sites for the rest of the school year to limit the spread of COVID-19, there are many personal items left in our buildings.
Saint Paul Public Schools has developed a plan to return student’s personal belongings that were left at school before the closure in a streamlined manner while following social distancing guidelines.
Student belongings that were left in lockers, cubbies, desks, as well as medications and supplies left in the Health Office, will be cleaned out by staff, bagged, labeled and assembled for pickup. No students or families will be allowed in school buildings to retrieve personal items.
The scheduled time frame for pickup at your child’s school will be communicated by your principal. For planning purposes, the general guidelines for pickup are:
-
- K-5th: May 18-22
- 6th-11th: May 26-29
- Seniors: June 5-8
If you walk to school, please look for signs and a check-in table. Please follow social distancing guidelines, by allowing at least six feet of space between others when waiting in line.
If you have library books, textbooks or other borrowed items at home, please plan to return them to school during your scheduled time. If parents are not able to make their scheduled date, please call your school and leave a message. Staff will return your call as soon as possible.
We ask that students in any of the following groups also plan to return their musical instruments back to their school, unless they have made other arrangements with their instrumental music teacher.
- All EDL Instrumental Music Students with SPPS owned instruments
- Current 8th graders with SPPS owned instruments
- Current 5th Graders at St. Paul Music Academy with SPPS owned instruments
- Any students leaving the District with SPPS owned instruments
- Students with SPPS instruments in need of repair
All other students with SPPS owned musical instruments may keep them over the summer and keep practicing.
