U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, who represents Minnesota’s 4th district and has served in Congress since 2001, posted a series of statements on her official social media account addressing national events and policy concerns.

On November 4, 2025, McCollum offered condolences to former Congresswoman Liz Cheney following the death of her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney. In her message, McCollum stated: "My condolences are with my former colleague Liz Cheney and her family as they mourn the death of her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney. Her father was at her side as she stood up to Donald Trump and worked to protect our democracy."

Later that day, McCollum commented on media access issues at the Pentagon. She wrote: "Booted from the Pentagon: AP, Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Bloomberg, NPR, ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, Fox News — and even NewsMax. Front row seat at the Pentagon: Laura Loomer. Secretary Hegseth is hiding information from the American people." This statement references prominent news organizations being denied access while singling out activist Laura Loomer’s presence and criticizes Secretary Hegseth for alleged lack of transparency.

On November 5, 2025, McCollum addressed food insecurity in the United States by stating: "In the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, nobody should go hungry."

McCollum has represented Minnesota’s 4th congressional district since replacing Bruce Vento in 2001 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul, she graduated from St. Catherine University with a BA in 1987.
