Rep. Betty McCollum, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 4th district since 2001, addressed several topics of local and national relevance in a series of posts on November 1, 2025.
In her first message posted at 15:44 UTC, McCollum announced an upcoming event: "The Minnesota Humanities Center will host a commemoration marking the 50th anniversary of the end of Vietnam War this weekend at Union Depot in Saint Paul. The event will highlight stories of Minnesota's Southeast Asian veterans, who fought alongside U.S. troops but were long".
Later that day, at 16:45 UTC, she issued a public warning regarding fraudulent activity targeting benefit recipients: "Scam Alert! Beware of a scam text message stating your SNAP EBT card has been locked. This is a phishing scam. Do not call or open any links. Contact your local SNAP office to confirm. Find your local office at https://t.co/0xnGQAQljW."
At 18:00 UTC on the same day, McCollum recognized Día de Muertos with words of solidarity for those observing the tradition: "Today I join Minnesotans in celebrating Día de Muertos — a time to honor and celebrate the lives and legacies of departed loved ones. To those celebrating in Minnesota and across the world, may the warm memories of family and friends bring you comfort and peace."
Betty McCollum was born in Minneapolis in 1954 and resides in Saint Paul. She earned her BA from St. Catherine University in 1987 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 until her election to Congress.
