Rep. Betty McCollum, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 4th district since 2001, used her social media platform to highlight local events and national observances in a series of posts between October 11 and October 13, 2025.
On October 11, McCollum promoted a community event, stating, "The City of Falcon Heights is hosting a Fall Fest this Saturday, October 11th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM — Offering family friendly activities like a meet and greet with first responders, a fire truck walkthrough, bounce house, and more."
Two days later, on October 13, she acknowledged Indigenous Peoples Day with a message recognizing the contributions of Indigenous Americans: "Happy Indigenous Peoples Day — A day to recognize the rich contributions and influence Indigenous Americans and Tribal nations have made to our country, communities, and shared history. Learn more on how to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day in Minnesota "
Later that same day, McCollum marked a military milestone by honoring the U.S. Navy: "The U.S. Navy has protected our nation for 250 years. Today we celebrate the millions of brave sailors and thank them for their service. Happy Birthday 250th, Navy! "
McCollum has served in Congress since replacing Bruce Vento in 2001. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul, McCollum is an alumna of St. Catherine University.
