The Minnesota House has approved the Environment and Natural Resources Finance bill, a measure designed to protect the state’s natural resources while maintaining fiscal discipline. Representative Josh Heintzeman (R-Nisswa), who serves as co-chair of the committee overseeing the legislation, played a significant role in crafting the bill.

“This bill is the result of hard work and tough negotiations,” said Heintzeman. “We prioritized efficient spending, avoided wasteful earmarks, and focused on what matters most—keeping our environment healthy and our outdoor traditions strong."

Key provisions in the bill include funding for parks, trails, conservation projects, and clean water initiatives. Notably, it does not include any fee increases that were initially suggested in Governor Walz’s budget proposal.

“We proved that it’s possible to pass a strong environmental bill without irresponsible spending,” Heintzeman added. “That’s a win for Minnesota families, taxpayers, and future generations.”
