Rep. Betty McCollum, who has represented Minnesota’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2001, recently addressed her constituents and broader issues through a series of social media posts.

On September 23, 2025, McCollum extended greetings for the Jewish New Year, stating, "Shanah Tovah U'metukah! I’m wishing wellness to everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah. I hope this season of renewal brings rest to you and your family."

Later that day, she reported on her engagement with local residents: "Today I joined residents of Marvella Senior Living in Saint Paul for a town hall to discuss how Trump’s Big Ugly Law is stripping health care from millions of Americans, causing costs to spike, and forcing hospitals to close. I'll always stand up for Minnesota’s, and I'll never".

That evening, McCollum commented on national leadership at the United Nations and environmental policy: "President Trump failed to lead on the world stage today at the United Nations.

Climate change is real, and we see the consequences in worsening wildfires and sea level rise in the U.S. and around the world. The Trump administration can’t bury their heads in the sand and pretend".

McCollum has served in Congress since succeeding Bruce Vento in 2001 after previously serving eight years in the Minnesota House of Representatives. She was born in Minneapolis in 1954 and resides in Saint Paul. In addition to her legislative work, McCollum holds a BA from St. Catherine University.
