U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, who has represented Minnesota’s 4th district in Congress since 2001, recently used her social media platform to inform constituents about early voting, a scam alert from the Minnesota Department of Revenue, and an opportunity for students interested in coding.
On September 16, McCollum posted: "Early Voting begins this Friday for Saint Paul races. Register to vote or check your voter registration at https://t.co/VKHHzDeNto. Together, let’s carry on our tradition of having the highest voter turnout in the nation! https://t.co/6FOWVW17B7"
The following day, she alerted residents to a fraudulent message circulating in Minnesota: "SCAM ALERT: The Minnesota Department of Revenue is warning people about a scam text message impersonating the Department of Revenue and asking for banking information. Read more below:

Also on September 17, McCollum encouraged student participation in a national technology event: "Today we celebrate #NationalAppChallengeDay! All CD4 middle & high school students with an interest in coding are encouraged to create and submit an app.

McCollum has served as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 4th District since replacing Bruce Vento in 2001 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. She was born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently resides in Saint Paul. In addition to her legislative work, she graduated from St. Catherine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
