Rep. Betty McCollum, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 4th district since 2001, shared a series of posts between September 13 and September 15, 2025, highlighting local community milestones and cultural events.
On September 13, McCollum congratulated a local city in her district: "Congratulations to the City of Lake Elmo and its residents as they celebrate their 100th anniversary as a local government and community. Wishing all a safe and festive time with family, friends, and neighbors."
Later that day, she commented on her attendance at a neighborhood music festival: "I had a fantastic time attending the annual Selby JazzFest this weekend – an incredible celebration of music, food, and community. Thank you to Walker|West Music Academy and the Knight Foundation for supporting this event and providing a space for local businesses and artists" (September 13).
On September 15, McCollum recognized achievements in the arts: "Congratulations to Arthur Sze, our next Poet Laureate! I am looking forward to supporting his work at the @librarycongress 'to recognize, celebrate and appreciate the power of poetry.' Thank you Ada Limón, who ends her tenure as Poet Laureate in October."
Rep. McCollum has served Minnesota’s 4th District in Congress since succeeding Bruce Vento in 2001. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul, McCollum graduated from St. Catherine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
