Rep. Betty McCollum, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 4th district since 2001, recently posted a series of messages on social media celebrating Labor Day, the start of the school year in Minnesota, and congratulating a local resident for joining the cast of Saturday Night Live.
On September 1, McCollum marked Labor Day by acknowledging the achievements of the labor movement. She wrote, "Happy Labor Day! The Labor movement has fought for and won so much for the American people — The minimum wage, the 40-hour work week, sick leave, overtime pay, the right to strike, family leave, workers' compensation, overtime pay, and so much more. These milestones provide the".
The following day, September 2, she addressed students and educators in her home state with a message about returning to school: "Happy first day of school to all Minnesota students returning to the classroom today! As a former social studies teacher, I know how special this day is for students, educators, support staff, and parents. Here's to a great school year for all of Minnesota's young learners."
On September 3, McCollum congratulated Tommy Brennan from Saint Paul on his new role with Saturday Night Live: "Congratulations to Saint Paul’s very own Tommy Brennan on making the cast of Saturday Night Live! Your city is proud of you, and we can’t wait to watch you debut on October 4."
McCollum has represented Minnesota’s 4th District in Congress since succeeding Bruce Vento in 2001.
