U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, who represents Minnesota’s 4th district in Congress, addressed a range of issues in recent posts on her official X account, including national parks funding, data security concerns involving the Department of Government Oversight and Ethics (DOGE), and a violent incident at a Minneapolis school.

On August 25, 2025, McCollum recognized the anniversary of the National Parks Service by stating: "Happy 109th Birthday to our National Parks! Congress and the President must protect and fully fund Minnesota’s National Parks so that we can all celebrate and enjoy these national treasures #NPSBirthday https://t.co/ssisPIxPVu".

The following day, she raised alarms about alleged mishandling of sensitive information under the Trump administration: "Trump’s DOGE employees copied a database containing more than 548 million Social Security numbers and placed it on a cloud server, putting every single American at risk of identity theft. DOGE is a threat to Americans’ privacy and security, and it needs to go. https://t.co/tWAnemIYvD" (August 26, 2025).

On August 27, McCollum responded to violence at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis: "My heart goes out to our neighbors in Minneapolis impacted by the horrific violence at Annunciation Catholic School this morning. I'm grateful for the swift response by first responders. All Minnesotans join as one in supporting the children, teachers, and their families."

McCollum has represented Minnesota's 4th District since replacing Bruce Vento in 2001. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul, McCollum graduated from St. Catherine University with a BA in 1987.
