Minnesota State Representative Nathan Nelson has issued a message to constituents in recognition of Independence Day. In his statement, Nelson encourages residents to reflect on the significance of July 4th and the freedoms Americans enjoy.

"July 4th isn’t just a celebration—it’s a reminder of the courage it took to build this country from the ground up. The signers of the Declaration of Independence risked everything to stand for what was right: that our rights don’t come from government—they come from God. That belief remains the cornerstone of our Republic, and it’s worth protecting," Nelson said.

He expressed gratitude for those who serve the nation and communities, stating, "This holiday, I’m especially grateful for the people who continue that legacy of service: the men and women in uniform, our veterans, our first responders, and the everyday citizens who lead, volunteer, and lend a hand in our communities. Freedom is not maintained by one act of bravery—it’s carried on by the steady work of people who love this country and live out its values each day."

Nelson also noted various ways Minnesotans might celebrate Independence Day with family or community events. He concluded his message with a call to remember national blessings and strive for continued strength as a nation: "May we never lose sight of the blessings we’ve been given—and may we always strive to leave this nation stronger for the next generation."

"Happy Independence Day, and may God bless America!"
