Rep. Betty McCollum, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district, recently conveyed her views on social media regarding significant national policies and decisions. McCollum, who assumed office in 2001 replacing Bruce Vento, often discusses policies impacting her constituents.
On March 26, 2025, Rep. McCollum responded to a recent Supreme Court decision. She noted that "The Supreme Court's 7 to 2 decision in support of these Biden gun safety protections reflects the serious threat that ghost guns pose to our communities."
In another post on the same day, McCollum critiqued proposed financial reallocations by political figures. She stated that "President Trump & House Republicans are moving forward on plans to cut Medicaid so they can give TRILLIONS in tax cuts to Elon Musk and Trump’s billionaire donors. Last weekend I heard from Minnesota health leaders how our children would be impacted by cuts to their health care."
On March 27, 2025, she further criticized former President Trump’s approaches concerning Social Security. McCollum asserted that "President Trump is letting the richest man in the world destroy Social Security to fund tax cuts for billionaires. Elon Musk’s illegal cuts to the Social Security Administration are pushing the system to a breaking point and will hurt Minnesotans."
