Rep. Betty McCollum, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district, shared several thoughts and announcements through social media on March 7, 2025. McCollum has been a member of Congress since 2001, succeeding Bruce Vento, and has previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

On March 7, 2025, Rep. McCollum announced an upcoming live appearance on Minnesota Public Radio (MPR). She tweeted: "I will be live on @MPR at 12:30 today to discuss the federal budget with Brian Bakst. Tune in at https://t.co/xpPqh608Y1!"

Later that day, she posted a light-hearted comment about friendly competition with Canada: "The only thing I want to argue with the Canadians about is who’s better at hockey and who can catch more fish."

In a more serious tweet later that afternoon, McCollum criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for his actions in Ukraine and accused certain American politicians of supporting Russia's interests. She stated: "Putin is a war criminal who illegally invaded Ukraine, killing thousands of innocent civilians. And right now, he and his oligarchs are rejoicing in the Kremlin as their friends Donald Trump and JD Vance do Russia's bidding in Washington."
