Betty McCollum, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota's 4th district, recently shared her perspectives on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. These tweets address topics ranging from international trade to domestic economic policies and the passing of a fellow congressman.

On March 5, 2025, Rep. McCollum expressed concerns over President Trump's decision to impose a "25% tariff on U.S.-Canada trade," stating that it "harms workers and businesses here in Minnesota and across the Great Lakes Region." She emphasized the significance of the "longstanding alliance and trade partnership" between the United States and Canada during an appearance on CBC News. "President Trump’s 25% tariff on U.S.-Canada trade harms workers and businesses here in Minnesota and across the Great Lakes Region. I joined @CBCNews last night to discuss the importance of the longstanding alliance and trade partnership between our two countries."

Later that day, she conveyed her condolences regarding the death of Congressman Sylvester Turner from Texas. In her message, she offered prayers for Turner's friends, family, and Houston residents as they grieve for "a beloved public servant and community leader." "I'm saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Congressman Sylvester Turner, my freshman colleague from Texas. My prayers are with his friends, family, and the entire city of Houston as they mourn the death of a beloved public servant and community leader."

In another tweet posted on March 5, 2025, McCollum criticized President Trump's recent speech for its focus on self-promotion rather than addressing key economic challenges facing Americans. She accused him of exacerbating these issues through his tariffs, economic policies, and fiscal management strategies."Last night, President Trump spent 99 minutes bragging, blustering, and bullying but just two minutes on the rising costs facing Americans — costs he is driving even higher by his tariffs, economic policies, and fiscal mismanagement."
