McCollum, who has been serving in Congress for over two decades, expressed her stance on various issues affecting American citizens.

On February 18, 2025, McCollum criticized House Republicans for proposing significant cuts to Medicaid. She stated that these cuts would "drive up costs for middle class families to make room for a giant tax break for billionaires." She urged bipartisan cooperation by suggesting that "If just 3 House Republicans join Democrats to block it, we'll defeat their dangerous plan."

Later the same day, she addressed actions taken by former President Donald Trump regarding the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). According to McCollum's tweet from February 18, 2025, "Donald Trump has fired hundreds of FAA employees since taking office." She described this as a "reckless approach" that compromises air travel safety.

In another tweet posted on February 18, 2025, following a town hall meeting with union members, McCollum reported hearing concerns about President Trump's and Elon Musk's actions. She tweeted that they are engaged in "reckless and illegal actions" aimed at cutting funding from essential services and projects to finance further tax reductions for billionaires. Her full statement reads: "Today at a town hall with local union members I heard concerns about the reckless and illegal actions by President Trump and Elon Musk."
