Rep. Betty McCollum, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district, has expressed her views on various issues through a series of tweets. McCollum, who has been in office since 2001 after succeeding Bruce Vento, is known for her active engagement on social media.

On February 17, 2025, Rep. McCollum criticized Elon Musk's alleged attempts to access financial information from taxpayers and businesses across the country. She stated: "Elon Musk and his interns are seeking financial information on every taxpayer, business, and nonprofit in the country." She further emphasized that "an unelected billionaire should not be allowed to go through your IRS records – or those of his business competitors."

The following day, February 18, 2025, she expressed her concern for those involved in an incident with Delta Flight 4819. In her tweet, she said: "My thoughts are with the passengers, crew, and families of those rescued from Delta Flight 4819 this afternoon." She also wished for swift recoveries for the injured and praised the first responders' efforts.

Later on February 18, McCollum addressed actions taken by Donald Trump and Elon Musk regarding nuclear security workers. She tweeted: "Donald Trump & Elon Musk illegally and abruptly fired nuclear security workers before realizing they are essential to our national security." She described these actions as a "reckless misunderstanding of the most sensitive responsibilities of our government."
