Rep. Betty McCollum, a U.S. Congress member representing Minnesota's 4th district since 2001, has recently expressed her concerns through a series of tweets about current political issues in Washington, D.C. Her remarks focus on the Trump Administration and other influential figures.

On February 11, 2025, Rep. McCollum shared that her office has been inundated with calls from concerned Minnesotans regarding developments in Washington, D.C. She stated: "My office has received thousands of phone calls from Minnesotans concerned about what is happening here in Washington, D.C. I hear you — and I'm working with my Democratic colleagues to hold the Trump Administration accountable."

The following day, February 12, she commented on efforts by former President Donald Trump to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). In her tweet, she asserted: "There's a reason why Trump wants to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau: It helps working people fight back against irresponsible and risky financial practices." She further questioned who benefits from such actions by saying: "Who's helped by a shuttered CFPB? Crypto billionaires, the big banks, and scammers."

Later that same day, Rep. McCollum criticized Elon Musk for his alleged conflicts of interest due to government contracts and business ties to China. She accused him of retaliating against regulators: "Elon Musk is not making our government efficient; He’s an unelected billionaire with multiple government contracts and business ties to China — blatant conflicts of interest." Additionally, she accused him of illegal activities aimed at closing agencies: "Now he’s retaliating against regulators by illegally sabotaging them and attempting to close agencies."
