Rep. Betty McCollum, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district since 2001, recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding actions taken by former President Donald Trump and his administration. McCollum, who replaced Bruce Vento in Congress and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001, has been vocal about political issues impacting the nation.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. McCollum criticized recent executive orders and memos issued by Trump, stating that they were unconstitutional and detrimental to national security. She claimed these actions "make America weaker and less safe" while increasing costs for essential services such as health care, housing, and groceries across the country. "The flurry of unconstitutional Trump Executive Orders and memos issued in the last week make America weaker and less safe."

In another tweet posted on the same day, McCollum accused Trump of aspiring to dictatorship from his first day in office. She argued that his administration's actions were illegal and posed threats to Americans' economic, personal, and national security. "President Trump told the American people that he wanted to be a dictator on day one."

On January 29, 2025, McCollum praised General Mark Milley for his service to the United States over four decades. She criticized Secretary Hegseth for what she described as petty actions aimed at settling personal scores for President Trump instead of serving any official purpose. "General Mark Milley admirably served the United States and the U.S. Army for 43 years."
