Rep. Betty McCollum, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 4th district since 2001, recently shared her thoughts on various topics through a series of tweets. McCollum, a native of Minneapolis and resident of Saint Paul, has been active in politics since her time in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001.

On November 17, 2024, Rep. McCollum expressed admiration for Lindsey Vonn, highlighting her as an exemplary figure in Minnesota athletics and sportsmanship. She remarked on Vonn's achievements by stating: "Lindsey Vonn represents the best of Minnesota athletics and sportsmanship. Watching her win one Olympic medal after another has brought great pride to our state. I can’t wait to see her back on the slopes!"

Two days later, on November 19, Rep. McCollum announced her upcoming appearance on BBC World to discuss the ongoing situation in Ukraine. She noted the significance of this period as it marks 1,000 days since Russia's full-scale invasion under President Putin. Her tweet read: "I will appear on @BBCWorld this evening to discuss the state of the war in Ukraine 1,000 days since the start of Putin's full-scale invasion. Tune in at 4pm to hear my thoughts on what the U.S. and our allies are doing to thwart Russian escalation in Ukraine."

Later that same day, she voiced support for young activists advocating for environmental conservation efforts related to the Boundary Waters Wilderness area. Her encouragement was evident when she tweeted: "I’m so encouraged by the young people who are stepping up to defend the Boundary Waters Wilderness and calling on Congress to protect this priceless, pristine watershed for future generations. Thanks for visiting, @KidsForTheBWCA!"
