St. Paul Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 09.
Your officers were busy last night.
If you see something that doesn’t feel right, your instincts might be valid. No one knows your neighborhood better than you.
Around 9:45 p.m., a concerned community member called the Ramsey County Communications Center to report a disturbance and suspicious behavior.
When officers responded to the scene, two people fled on foot.
Officers set up a perimeter and checked the area where the two fled. Two firearms were found—one with an automatic switch and the other was stolen.
The individuals broke into a residence just a few blocks away from the original call. Officers were called to the address and when they arrived, the individuals fled… again.
What followed was a carjacking, vehicle crash, and another residential burglary.
Within an hour, both individuals were in custody. Thanks to the great teamwork by the community, your officers, and the Minnesota State Patrol, these individuals were held accountable and hopefully prevented additional crimes.
When community members work with local public safety, our neighborhoods are a safer place.
Great job, Saint Paul!
