Clean Up Phase of the Snow Emergency | City of Saint Paul - Government
City Of St. Paul issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
SNOW EMERGENCY UPDATE:.
The Night and Day Route phases have been completed. We are now in the Clean Up Phase of the Snow Emergency. City crews are doing additional re-plowing and "pushbacks," which is plowing areas where cars were parked, but have since moved.
Please note that with the current freezing temperatures, even treated salt products are NOT effective on roadways right now. Streets can quickly become very slippery and covered with ice, including "black ice" from car exhaust. Given the temps, we hope that our salt products will start becoming effective as early as Saturday.
In addition, the winds are picking up and are expected to be blowing the fallen snow tonight through tomorrow, which could cause low visibility and even white-out conditions at times. It will blow snow back into the streets and our crews will be out tonight and tomorrow plowing the main streets and then the residential side streets where we can to keep the streets safe as possible.
If you must travel on the streets with these dangerous conditions, please take your time, slow down, and leave plenty of space between you and other vehicles - including our dedicated plow crews.
To avoid a ticket or tow, do not park in areas where streets are not plowed to the curb. Always follow all posted street signs. Do not park vehicles where signs indicate "No Parking." A Snow Emergency lasts 96 hours.
