The Minnesota Senate passed a bonding bill that will help replace the Third Street/Kellogg Boulevard Bridge, Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported.

St. Paul will get $52 million to replace the bridge, while Hastings will receive $2 million to replace the roof of city hall that is leaking. There is also $269 million going toward sewer and water improvement grants in Newport, West St. Paul, Mendota, South St. Paul and Arden Hills, according to the news media.

"This bonding bill will touch every Minnesotan," Sen. Sandy Pappas (DLF-St. Paul) said, the news media reported.

Bonding Committee Chair David Senjem (R-Rochester) said the bill is the most expensive bonding bill in the state's history but that it's a big bill because it is needed.

"There's a lot of fixing up that needs to be done," Senjem said, according to the news media.

Gov. Tim Walz was happy with the bill's passage and applauded the passage, the news media stated.
