The Pilgrim's Cold Spring chicken plant has announced plans through its Hometown Strong initiative to donate $575,000 in an effort to assist the Town of Cold Spring's response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Sen. Jeff Howe (R-MN) has applauded the initiative that the corporation has shown. Pilgrim’s is teaming up with officials to determine where the funds can be used.
“I am greatly appreciative of the contribution that Pilgrim is making in Cold Spring,” Howe said in a press release. “Their generous investment will provide critical support to our city and community as that state continues to deal with COVID-19 and its damaging economic impact. Their contribution shows their value in our community and the workers at their facility and I am proud to have them as a business in our district.”
Wesley Smith, Pilgrim’s Cold Spring Complex Manager, said Pilgrim's takes their responsibility of being a good neighbor very seriously.
“During the past few months, we have been completely focused on protecting our team members and keeping the COVID-19 virus out of our facility. In partnership with members of the community, we look forward to investing in the future of our hometown during such a critical time," Smith said in a press release.
Residents are urged to send proposals for investment to hometownstrong@pilgrims.com.
