NOKOMIS MONTESSORI NORTH CAMPUS: New Grading Update for SPPS Students

Educ

Nokomis Montessori North Campus issued the following announcement.

In order to honor our shared belief that all students must be held harmless for circumstances out of their control, and the Governor’s directive to go to Distance Learning should not impact any student's pathway to graduation, all secondary students will receive a P (Pass) grade, at a minimum, for fourth quarter.

Below you will find the SPPS grading adjustments for all students in third and fourth quarter due to the emergency response to the quick implementation of Distance Learning as part of our COVID-19 response plan:

Pre-K End of Year Report Cards

SPPS will focus the end of the year summary report on student strengths and documented growth over the year.

Elementary End of Year Report Cards

SPPS will use the marks from the spring report card for the end of year report card for students. Teachers will have the option to add comments about student strengths during distance learning.

Middle School: Grades 6-8

Quarter 3: All students will receive a P (Pass) for Quarter 3 final grades in all courses.

Quarter 4: All students will receive a P (Pass) for Quarter 4 final grades. Transcripts will indicate Distance Learning during third and fourth quarters. The grade mark of P (Pass) is grade point average (GPA) neutral.

High School: Grades 9-12

Quarters 3 & 4: We will continue with the plan to use letter grades for A+ through C-. For grades of D+ through N, students will receive a P (Pass). A student’s fourth quarter grade will also be their final third quarter grade for that class.

Transcripts will indicate Distance Learning during third and fourth quarters. The grade mark of P (Pass) is grade point average (GPA) neutral. SPPS is reviewing grading practices for summer learning programs, as well as a plan for grading next school year.

We continue to learn through this unprecedented time. With thoughtful and collaborative planning happening through the summer, we will communicate a set of expectations around grading for all SPPS students to begin the 2020-2021 school year in the coming months.
