Two Minnesota construction workers who filed a lawsuit against OMG Midwest will receive more than $30,000 in backpay from the company, according to The Center Square.

James Connolly and Charles Winter alleged they were illegally fired when they refused to join the local union, Teamsters Local 120. The National Right to Work Foundation helped the pair file their suit against the company for unfair labor practice, the news agency reported.

OMG Midwest was ordered to remove termination references from Connolly and Winter's files, as well as post a notice of rights in its place of business and distribute the notice to employees.

Mark Mix, the president of the National Right to Work Foundation, said in a press release that Minnesota needed right to work protections.

“Ultimately, Minnesota legislators need to pass Right to Work protections for their state’s private-sector employees, which will ensure that union bosses must use persuasion – not illegal intimidation or threats of firing – to secure the support of workers,” Mix said in the release.
