Augustana took an early lead with a power play goal at 9:18 of the first period. St. Thomas responded with two goals in the second period and added another to start the third, continuing their trend of coming from behind—an achievement that marks their nation-leading tenth win when conceding first.

Alex Gaffney tied the game midway through the second period, assisted by Charlie Schoen and Nathan Pilling. Hayes Hundley then scored at 13:59 during four-on-four play, with assists from Gaffney and Jake Braccini.

In the third period, Lucas Wahlin redirected his league-leading nineteenth goal on a power play at 6:07 off a shot from Ryan O’Neill; Lucas Van Vliet also assisted on the play. This extended St. Thomas’s streak to nine consecutive games with a power play goal.

Augustana managed to score twice late in regulation to force overtime, which ended scoreless before Augustana secured two goals in the shootout.

St. Thomas outshot Augustana 42-27 for the game. Goaltender Carsen Musser made 24 saves on 27 shots faced for St. Thomas, who went one-for-four on power plays and killed two out of three penalties.

All six top scorers for St. Thomas recorded at least one point during this matchup.

The teams will meet again Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.
