Later that day, she posted a light-hearted comment about friendly competition with Canada: “The only thing I want to argue with the Canadians about is who’s better at hockey and who can catch more fish.”
In a more serious tweet later that afternoon, McCollum criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for his actions in Ukraine and accused certain American politicians of supporting Russia’s interests. She stated: “Putin is a war criminal who illegally invaded Ukraine, killing thousands of innocent civilians. And right now, he and his oligarchs are rejoicing in the Kremlin as their friends Donald Trump and JD Vance do Russia’s bidding in Washington.”
