U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, who has represented Minnesota’s 4th district in Congress since 2001, recently addressed a range of topics on her social media account, including state fair ticket sales and concerns over voting rights and data privacy.

On August 18, 2025, McCollum posted about discounted tickets for the state fair: “Discounted State Fair tickets are available for pre-sale until Thursday! Purchase your tickets now at: https://t.co/OdJC2ZGGx0. https://t.co/DQOFKnHr2t”.

The following day, she commented on former President Donald Trump’s reported intentions regarding mail-in voting. On August 19, 2025, she wrote: “Donald Trump can’t tell Americans how they can vote. Since colonial times, millions of Americans have securely voted by mail. His illegal plan to ban mail-in voting would only add barriers to vote for seniors, service members, people with disabilities, and rural Americans.”

Later that same day, McCollum raised questions about data collection by the Trump administration. She stated: “Americans are right to ask why the Trump administration wants all of our personal info, including voter data, health history, patient ID numbers, provider names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and SNAP benefits data.

Thank you to @GovTimWalz, @AGEllison, and @MNSteveSimon”.

McCollum has served in Congress since replacing Bruce Vento in 2001 after previously serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul at age 68,[source] she graduated from St. Catherine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
