Rep. Betty McCollum, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 4th district since 2001, recently addressed several issues on social media. Her tweets focused on a security breach involving Signal, gender pay disparity, and alleged violations by Department of Defense personnel.

On March 25, 2025, Rep. McCollum emphasized the importance of accountability following a security breach attributed to top Trump national security officials. She stated that “The House has a Constitutional duty to conduct swift and serious investigations into the dangerous Signal security breach caused by top Trump national security officials. Everyone responsible must be held fully accountable.”

Later that day, she highlighted the issue of wage inequality in recognition of Equal Pay Day. McCollum noted that “It’s Equal Pay Day – putting a spotlight on the growing pay gap for women in our nation. On average, women make 75 cents to every dollar their male peers earn. We’re heading in the wrong direction. It’s time to correct course.”

On March 26, 2025, Rep. McCollum criticized Secretary Hegseth for allegedly violating Department of Defense policies by sharing sensitive information via Signal. She tweeted that “The Department of Defense specifically prohibits DoD personnel from using Signal to share non-public information.” She further accused Secretary Hegseth of sharing “detailed information in the Signal chat about a forthcoming military strike — a clear and obvious violation of his own department’s policy.”
