Rep. Betty McCollum, a distinguished member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 4th district, recently communicated through a series of tweets about her various engagements and concerns. McCollum, who replaced former Congress member Bruce Vento in 2001, continues her commitment to addressing pressing issues affecting her constituents and the broader public.

On April 24, 2025, McCollum expressed her gratitude for meeting with residents during a town hall at Boutwell’s Landing in Oak Park Heights. She reassured Minnesota’s senior citizens, stating “Minnesota’s seniors can count on me to oppose all Republican efforts to cut Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and Veterans Benefits.”

In another tweet dated April 25, 2025, McCollum criticized the actions of prominent figures and their policies. She stated, “Musk and Trump are taking a chainsaw to protections of BWCA, and now their reckless cuts to services are limiting Americans’ access to our public lands.” She further emphasized her commitment to enacting legislation designed to secure permanent protections for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA).

Later on the same day, McCollum acknowledged Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin in support of a legal issue involving a state judge. She tweeted, “I stand with @SenatorBaldwin and share her serious concerns about the arrest of this Wisconsin judge.”

Currently, McCollum lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and educated at St. Catherine University, from which she graduated in 1987, McCollum’s career includes serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001 before her election to Congress.
