U.S. Representative Betty McCollum, who has represented Minnesota’s 4th district in Congress since 2001, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing international affairs, the national economy, and local business developments.

On September 4, 2025, McCollum commented on recent news from Israel: “Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich announced his plan to annex the majority of the West Bank — a move explicitly designed to destroy any possibility of a Palestinian state. I denounce this this far-right attempt to implode prospects for peace.”

The following day, September 5, she turned her attention to domestic economic issues under the Trump administration. In her post she stated: “The economy is doing terribly under Trump.

Unemployment is 4.3%
The economy lost 13,000 jobs in June
There are more job-seekers than job openings

It’s no surprise that a government led by the wealthiest cabinet in history doesn’t care about the needs of working people.”

Later that same day, McCollum welcomed a new business to her home city: “Happy to welcome Inkit’s new office to Saint Paul! Inkit’s electronic file program serves both the government and private sectors, allowing users to securely create, edit, and share electronic documents. Thanks for their commitment to bring 50+ high-paying tech jobs here in Saint”

McCollum has been an active member of Congress since succeeding Bruce Vento in 2001 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 until her election to federal office. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul, she graduated from St. Catherine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
