Rep. Betty McCollum, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 4th district since 2001, recently posted a series of statements on her social media accounts addressing key national and international issues.
On July 23, 2025, McCollum wrote, “I took a stand today in the Appropriations Committee.”
The following day, July 24, she commented on U.S. foreign policy and humanitarian concerns: “I, along with the world, watch in horror as the Trump Administration buoys Prime Minister Netanyahu’s extremist right-wing government. No child on this planet should be starved when the United States has the capacity to feed them.”
On July 25, McCollum addressed domestic policy related to healthcare and disability rights: “The Big Ugly Law takes away Medicaid from millions of Americans, including those with disabilities. Americans with disabilities deserve recognition and respect, and to have their voices heard. I’m introducing a bipartisan resolution to designate July as Disability Pride Month.”
McCollum has represented Minnesota’s 4th District in Congress since succeeding Bruce Vento in 2001. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Born in Minneapolis in 1954 and currently residing in Saint Paul at age 68, McCollum graduated from St. Catherine University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
