Following recent reports of attacks by ISIS militants targeting Christians in Mozambique, Minnesota State Representative Ben Davis (R–Mission Twp.) has issued a public statement condemning the violence.

“The reports coming out of Mozambique are heartbreaking and infuriating. ISIS militants are burning churches, destroying homes, and murdering Christians in cold blood. This is pure evil.

As a Christian, it hits hard to see brothers and sisters in Christ targeted simply because of their faith.

We need to call this what it is: terrorism aimed at wiping out a people and their beliefs. The international community must step up, shine a light on these atrocities, and work to protect those who are being persecuted.”

The statement follows news that ISIS has carried out violent acts against Christian communities in Mozambique, including arson attacks on places of worship and residential areas, as well as killings motivated by religious identity. Davis emphasized the need for global attention and action to address what he described as terrorism against people based on their beliefs.
