Representative Ben Bakeberg addressed the conclusion of the 2025 legislative session, which ended at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, and discussed the possibility of a special session. He emphasized achievements made for educators during this period.

“I am proud of the work we have done this session, especially for our educators. We have made important progress that I hope to build on in the next session. But right now, my focus is on finishing the remaining budget and policy bills so we can deliver a responsible state budget that serves all Minnesotans,” Bakeberg said.

Bakeberg also commented on the pattern of relying on special sessions to complete legislative tasks. “Special sessions should not become the norm. Minnesota deserves legislators who show up ready to work from day one through the final day of session. Our constituents expect us to do our jobs on time and with accountability.”

The Minnesota legislature has faced delays in passing budget and policy bills, leading to discussions about holding an additional special session to finalize outstanding legislative work.
