Representative Ben Davis of Mission Township has expressed support for a recent court decision in the case Loe v. Walz, which invalidated a 2023 law that excluded faith-based colleges from Minnesota’s Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program.

In his statement, Davis said, “This is a great victory for religious freedom and educational choice. High school students should not lose access to tuition-free college credits simply because they choose to study in a Christian environment.

The ruling restores fairness, protects constitutional rights, and ensures that families can continue making educational choices that reflect their faith and values. I am grateful the court affirmed what we have long known—discrimination against faith-based schools has no place in Minnesota.”

The PSEO program allows high school students in Minnesota to earn college credits at participating postsecondary institutions while still completing their high school education. The court’s decision means that students who wish to attend faith-based colleges will retain access to this opportunity.
